Went to our very favourite place in California and made a joint decision to make it official and forever 💛💍

Spent the afternoon in the ghost town of Bodie, an hour from Mammoth Lakes. A gold rush boom town in the 1880s, it had a full working mine - and saw outlaws, saloon shoot outs and stage holdups; with boiling summers, and 20-below snowy winters 🤠💰 But when the gold ran out and the town was ravaged by fire, it became a ghost town in the early 1900s. Now, it's held in a state of arrested decay - a total time warp, with beer bottles still on the bar, sums on the school chalkboard, and clothes hanging in the bedrooms - and a lot of very wonky wooden buildings! So immersive and fascinating to explore - definitely recommend a visit.

10 photos to sum up 25 miles, 7000ft elevation gain and 12 hours on our feet, hiking from Tenaya Lake to Clouds Rest to Half Dome - and back again. From enthusiasm and excitement, through to pain and exhaustion - and maybe a few tears! - but I'm so proud of us! Definitely a character building experience 😂 but no I wouldn't do it again!

4th July weekend doesn't mean much to me, except a 4 day weekend! Set off east to explore Mammoth Lakes (just east of Yosemite) and had some amazing hikes, views and food (thanks for the recs @kay.jay.d!).

Fave hike: Little Lakes Trail to Gem Lakes
Best dinner: @skadimammoth for Scandinavian dishes & aquavit shots with the chef (complete with Swedish drinking songs 🙈)
Decent coffee: @blackvelvetcoffee (third wave coffee even in a small town 🎉)

Views from the top of Howell Mountain at @cadeestate yesterday.
Another @heathersandyhebert rec, and loved it of course - only a few more to go till I complete the New Architecture of Wine top 25 list!

11:00: @bookervineyard - so beautiful. Note to self: Go for lunch next time - food menu looked incredible.

14:00: @lawestatewines - those views, that architecture - but mind the rattlesnakes!
