I’ve done the research, testing and tasting for you, so you can just follow my advice and have a glorious gastronomic experience in the French capital 😉
As always with my recommendations, you can expect great food and drinks, stunning interiors and a perfect ambience.
It’s possible to fit these three exceptional establishments all into a single day – and I’d highly recommend that you do so – these Paris hotspots are not to be missed!
In their words: “CARBÓN is an ode to nature, a place where the most ancestral cooking technique in the world, fire, encounters the products of land & sea in their extreme nudity.”
In my own words: “Delicious and beautifully presented sharing plates in a glorious setting with lots of wood, plants and foxed mirrors. Visit for coffee and pastries, lunch or dinner – plus there’s a speakeasy bar downstairs for a nightcap after.”
Recommended visit: Mid-morning or lunch
14 Rue Charlot, 75003 Paris, France
According to them: “At all hours of the day, residents and tourist come with delight to immerse themselves in this inviting bazar of flavours originating from the amazing culinary richness of the middle east.”
According to me: “I LOVE The Palomar restaurant in London, for its sleek interior and delicious Israeli sharing plates. The atmosphere there is electric – sit up at the bar as the chefs shout and cheer to each other – and Balagan is no different. In fact it’s possibly more beautiful, with an interior by The Experimental Group. The dishes are delicious, the service has flair and energy, and there’s a boudoir-like bar for digestifs.”
Recommended visit: Dinner
9 Rue d’Alger, 75001 Paris, France
3. Night Flight
They say: “Experimental Group reinvented the bar of hotel by making it leave its walls, creating in 2007 the Experimental Cocktail Club in Paris, indicated like one of the 20 best bars in the world by Bartender Magazine. It is integrated today into the Bachaumont Hotel, distilling inventive cocktails and music – live and sets – with Parisian customers which are fond of this smart and eclectic bar.”
I say: “Hidden inside the super stylish Bachaumont Hotel, Night Flight bar is from The Experimental Group, whose trademark is a stunning interior (lots of curves and plush fabrics), a great soundtrack, and exceptional cocktails. Night Flight is all of these. We cosied up in a squishy velvet booth, and I swear I Shazam-ed every song. The drinks were so good we stayed for one too many – ordering both from the menu, and testing the bartender’s skills at favoured classics. Love love loved it so much.”
Recommended visit: Pre- or post-dinner drinks
