Urban Cowboy B&B, Brooklyn: Luxury bolthole in the city that never sleeps

Affordable yet luxurious accommodation in New York is nigh on impossible to come by – or is it? I recently discovered Urban Cowboy B&B, located on a quiet residential street in Williamsburg where the tourists don’t venture. Staying here doesn’t feel like a hotel, but more like a really nice house of a friend – a friend with great taste, and the skill to combine the industrial and cowboy aesthetics to stunning effect.
The Parlour is a convivial, social space. Breakfast is served here in the mornings, and guests can take time out by the record player or on the squishy sofa – or head out to the backyard where there’s a barbecue, sauna and hot tub!

Upstairs, three bedrooms (2 doubles, 1 single) share one awesome bathroom. Each room has its own personality, with Texan touches running throughout – dreamcatchers hang above the pillows, fine Pendleton blankets top the beds, everything screams top quality.

The master bedroom – or Lion Master Den – has a sink-into-me king size feather top bed, and an en suite with his and hers sink.

Or for the ultimate indulgent escape, couples can check in to the Kanoono Cabin, a separate studio apartment in the backyard, complete with giant bed, wood-burning pot belly stove and rolltop bath… It proves very popular with honeymooners and staycationers – the perfect luxury campout in the city that never sleeps.

Hot tip: There’s a second Urban Cowboy set to open in Nashville in early 2016 – keep an eye on Instagram for details…

Rooms from about $150 a night – enquire online.
