There’s a Homeslice in Seven Dials (I’ve reviewed it before, here) but it’s pretty small and very much on the beaten track so, thanks to the No Reservations policy, it’s not the easiest place to visit. The new Wells Street branch, on the other hand, is not only larger, but has it’s own awesome basement bar – the perfect Brooklyn-esque holding pen for pizza hungry punters waiting for their table, and serving prosecco on tap for £4.50 a glass.
Homeslice is clearly a firm believer in the Bigger Is Better philosophy. Wine can be ordered by the glass or the magnum, and pizza by the slice or the entire 20″ pie!
You can go half-n-half on your toppings when you order a full pizza (~£20) – always unusual and seasonal – cauliflower cheese with Merguez sausage, and braised brisket were favourites upon my last visit. Note there is nothing else on the menu, save for pizza – no side salads, no desserts.
Mathematically speaking, a 20″ pizza shared between two is a larger helping than the normal 12″ per person, but there’s something so satisfying about tucking into a plate of food that fills the whole table…!
