If you didn’t know it already, a breakfast date with a friend is quite simply the best way to start the working day. As a result, I’m always on the hunt for eateries that open early and serve good coffee. Broadgate Circle has recently undergone a revamp, and hands-down my favourite place there is Beany Green, which is right outside Liverpool Street station, Australian and opens at 7am – a winning combination.
There’s a Beany Green coffee hut on the Southbank, but the Broadgate Circle one is larger, with more seating and a fabulous menu. The best London days begin with one of Beany’s Banana Bread Sandwiches (two slice of warm, award-winning banana bread, with plenty of cream, honey and fresh berries – for two to share) plus an excellent coffee, made to their exacting Aussie standards (they make the best almond milk flat white in all of London, in my opinion, and I have been known to sink two before hitting the office!).
The coconut-packed homemade granola deserves a mention too, served with thick yoghurt and berries; and the broccoli bread intrigues me – but so far not enough to actually try it!
Perhaps less of a power player than other Broadgate Circle residents like Yauatcha and The Botanist, Beany Green is certainly holding its own in my eyes – I defy you not to have a great day after kickstarting it at Beany Green.
Also – head to Beany Green at the weekend (10am-4pm Saturday, 12pm-4pm Sunday) to take advantage of the bottomless brunch offer – £33 including Prosecco/Mimosas/Bloody Marys plus bottomless Aussie dishes. Bookings essential: email@example.com.
