How a coffee shop can be so different to every other I’ve ever set foot in, while still getting every décor touch so totally right, I cannot understand. But that’s TOKI, the small Amsterdam café that left me caffeinated, awestruck and desperate to never leave (or perhaps open my own coffee shop that was even a fraction as cool as TOKI is!).
Set back from the shopping street Haarlemmerdijk, TOKI has the friendliest barista/owner, who is serving up exceptional coffee from Bonanza Coffee Roasters (each with those tortoiseshell teaspoons), Craft Brewers beers and drool-worthy loaf cakes (including an excellent Chocolate Mud Cake).
The interior is perfection. A deep blue floor, sink-into-me sofa and the most incredible stone table – this place is so photogenic it hurts. There are lots of independent hipster magazines around the place for coffee-side reading too.
While you’re in the area…
Check out Store Without A Home and Restored, two awesome design-led home/lifestyle/fashion stores that I adored.
