MILK: Balham's cutest brunch/lunch/coffee/cake spot

When in Balham, a visit to MILK is imperative. Thanks to its charming interior (including that pink tile-topped table), handcrafted British furniture, free trendy magazines and wifi, and a buzzing atmosphere, it’s a fabulous little find, located right on Hildreth Street Market.
MILK (formerly known as M1lk) has got breakfast and brunch covered, serving up an ever-changing menu of unusually delicious combinations – think buckwheat pancakes with burnt plums and Cornish cream, or βThe Convictβ, complete with “hangover sauce”! Cold-pressed juices and fresh smoothies are on offer to wash it all down.
Food presentation is en pointe, so have your camera at the ready – this is where that pink tiled backdrop comes into play!
Tip: Arrive early, because a queue soon forms – sign of a great brunch, that’s for sure. If the weather’s nice, bag a table out on Hildreth Street Market.
Peckish a little later in the day? The lunch menu is just as enticing (they have confit pork belly – Iβm sold). MILK’s coffee game is strong (often featuring beans from Berlin’s The Barn), as is the cake offering (made daily at the onsite bakery), so a mid-afternoon pitstop will go down a treat too.
The Balham favourite has recently undergone a transformation, doubling in size and becoming brighter and breezier.Β Fingers crossed the larger space reduces the lengthy queue which is somewhat commonplace of a weekend brunchtime…
From September 2015, pop down for MILK Lates, the new dinner service that will be served from 6pm Thursday-Saturday.
