Whaam Banh Mi: Generously stuffed Vietnamese baguettes in Soho

For banh mi assembled with the utmost care, head to Whaam Banh Mi in Soho. Ideal for a takeaway lunch (seating is minimal), keep an eye out for the bright yellow frontage on Great Windmill Street.
Expect crusty Vietnamese baguettes stuffed with BBQ pulled pork or Luc Lac brisket and crunchy salad, drizzled with dressing and sprinkled with crushed peanuts.
Vegetarians will be impressed with the pan fried tofu option, also offered in a salad box.Β Finish off with a Vietnamese iced coffee – Vietnamese Robusta bean blended with evaporated milk.
Each sandwich is made fresh to order, with the option of summer rolls on the side, generously filled with juicy prawns.
Service is certainly not speedy (it didn’t scream “wham, bam, thank you ma’am” to me, despite the name!), but the resulting snack makes for a hearty lunch, and it’s the best banh mi I’ve found in London.
