Shot Espresso was already on my radar as a spot in Fulham to get a good proper coffee. So when I received word that Bistrò by Shot, an all-day dining spin-off with a Michelin-starred head chef (Fabrice “Fab” Meier), had opened it’s doors just down the road from Shot, right by Parsons Green station, I popped down for a caffeine-heavy brunch.
Bistrò by Shot is perfect for brunch (though it does a great dinner too, of French-Italian dishes made from predominantly seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients – and a full Sunday roast). Head Chef Fabrice Meier has created a menu that includes breakfast classics such as Eggs Benedict, French Toast and Corn Fritters.
While food presentation leaves a little to be desired, the flavours were spot on and the pricing really good – washed down with lots of AllPress coffee (there are healthy smoothie options on offer too).
In fact Penny declared her French toast (made from slices of homemade white bread, drowned in maple syrup and topped with pecans – £6) the best breakfast she’d ever eaten! This really is Michelin star dining with a pleasing price tag.
Light and airy, with shelves fashioned from salvaged timbers and good solid wooden furniture, the venue is relaxed and inviting during the day, transforming into a more intimate and elegant space for the evening. There’s a small conservatory area that’s flooded with light and perfect for groups to dine in too.
After a substantial brunch, two cups of coffee each, and some cute colourful macarons, we left well-fed, caffeinated and buzzing, and only about £15 poorer – ideal!
