Workshop Gymnasium: The *ultimate* workout in Bulgari luxury

Workshop Gymnasium landed in the quiet luxury of Knightsbridge’s Bulgari Hotel at the end of 2014, immediately solidifying itself in the upper echelons of ultimate London workouts. Founded by Lee Mullins (former Director of Personal Training at Bodyism, and heralded as one of the world’s best personal trainers), Workshop takes fitness very seriously, while understanding that totally spoiling luxury is the perfect setting for smashing PBs and hitting fitness goals.
So why hit Workshop?
Workshop’s USP is its exclusive Framework Assessment – a unique series of body evaluations that Workshop’s trainers run to ensure they are tailoring your workout plan accurately and specifically. The assessment includes Movement & Nutrition Genetic Analysis, Metabolic Testing, Functional Movement Screening and Body Composition Assessment, to ensure that all the guesswork is removed – pretty detailed stuff, huh?!
From the results of the Framework assessment, Lee and his trainers can pinpoint exactly what makes you tick, and devise a goal-oriented, personalised and holistic plan to reach your best potential.
A one-hour workout at Workshop might then consist of anything from one-to-one swimming in the stunning pool; energy system training or strength training in the state-of-the-art studio that is any fitness fanatic’s dream playground (there’s a Woodway Curve and VersaClimber! *drool*); or assisted Fascial Stretch Therapy for instant R&R.
Lee is the sweetest – he might be beasting you on the Woodway one minute, but will then refuel you with protein shakes, and bestow advice and knowledge on you, answering endless questions till the cows come home (my sessions have been known to massively run over, as I get so carried away picking his brains!).
Naturally it doesn’t come cheap: a Framework assessment is £1k, and sessions are £100-£200 per hour thereafter. But joining the leading Olympic coaches, celebrities and health professionals who have already seen results with Lee and his team was always going to cost a fair bit.
If you don’t fancy shelling out for the personal touch, consider Workshop’s Classwork sessions. A weekly small group class, Classwork uses pilates techniques, bodyweight and resistance bands to strengthen, lengthen and define.
Currently scheduled for 7:30am every Wednesday, the classes take place in the stunning Bulgari Spa studio space – definitely the most beautiful setting I’ve ever had the fortune to work out in!
And for those who want to start the week right, Yin Yoga Meditation takes place in the same beaut studio space on Mondays at 7:30am. Combining the slow, introspective Yin style of yoga with meditation techniques, you’ll find that the body and mind unwind totally and utterly, leaving a clean slate for the new week.
Certainly the most luxurious setting for exercise, the Bulgari Hotel’s changing rooms include a steam room, free Kangen Water (complete with powerful antioxidants and anti-ageing properties for optimal body pH and hydration!) and the most beautiful shower facilities – more than sufficient motivation to really hit your workout hard!
I can’t stop crushing on Workshop Gymnasium… I just need my paychecks to catch up, and then you can be sure it’ll become a regular fixture in my workout calendar!
