It’s unusual to find such a contemporary coffee shop these days – particularly one so close to Berlin’s top tourist trap (Checkpoint Charlie) yet so devoid of tourists itself. Westberlin is a breath of fresh air!
Located in the media district of Berlin, the “coffeebar & mediashop” is totally at odds with the surrounding 1€ stores, job centres and casinos. Owned by an architect, it’s bright and clean-lined. Furniture is an eclectic mix of new Danish and classic vintage, and colourful hand-blown glass pendant lights are dotted across the ceiling.
Coffee is courtesy of Stockholm’s Drop Coffee and Berlin’s own Five Elephant – but the hot chocolate and Anzac biscuits deserve a special mention too.
There’s also a wide selection of coveted international fashion and design magazines available for purchase alongside your coffee.
