The London EDITION: The fashion set's design hotel of choice, in Fitzrovia

The London EDITION hotel, located just off Oxford Street, is a home from home for the well-heeled clique of It Girls, fashion bloggers and magazine editors each time London Fashion Week rolls around.
And after checking into the EDITION myself, it’s easy to see why…
Five reasons why the fashion set love The London EDITION
(1) The hotel restaurant is the much-lauded Berners Tavern. With Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton at the helm and an interior that is quite breathtaking, there’s no better place to fuel up after a night in the hotel (non-guests are welcome to visit too – book online here).
(2) The EDITION’s architecture and the interior design are both quite breathtaking to behold. Ian Schrager (often heralded as the original creature of the ‘Boutique Hotel‘ category of accommodation) launched the EDITION in 2013 in conjunction with the Marriott hotel group – it was his first London project in 15 years.
Built back in 1835, the hotel was originally five luxurious townhouses. Although the current incarnation of the hotel has preserved the finest aspects of the landmark residence, the space has been completely reinvented – it’s a dynamic fusion of past and present, with an electric energy and a breath-taking aesthetic throughout.
(3) Away from the spectacular social spaces, the hotel is devoted to the personal, private and intimate spaces – the luxurious retreats from the street – the suites and bedrooms of the hotel. Rooms are panelled in dark walnut or light oak and are subtly lit, furnished with tactile textiles (including the snuggliest faux fur throws upon the beds), traditional tufted slipper-chairs by George Smith, a ‘no colour’ colour palette, and gilt-framed modern Masters paintings.
The Penthouse Suite is the envious owner of a terrace and lounge area too…
(4) The hotel’s lobby embodies Schrager’s “new kind of gathering place”, and features multiple types of marble (all original and painstakingly restored) glittering beneath the sensational stucco ceilings. The lobby houses a bar, sink-into-me sofas and a work station that can be used by guests and London residents alike.
I myself can often be found beneath the giant mirrored egg, laptop out at the work station, making good use of the free WiFi while enjoying teas and juices from the Lobby Bar.
(5) Nestled at the back of the hotel is the reservations-only Punch Room, a fumed-oak panelled drinking den that is the modern fusion of an English country manor library and a nineteenth-century private clubs. Take a seat in one of the overstuffed leather tub chairs or velvet banquettes, and enjoy drinks served on silver salvers by the dedicated staff.
Rooms from £225 per night.
