If you like your burgers down and dirty, in an ex-public toilet beneath the tracks of the U-Bahn, Burgermeister is a must-visit in Berlin’s trendy Kreuzberg district.
Place your order, wait for your number to flash up on the screen, then go claim your feast from the hatch. Eating can be done outside at ramshackle tables, or inside the only-slightly-warmer hut at standing tables.
The Hausmeister burger and chili cheese fries tick all the right boxes, and are just “gourmet” enough that your arteries don’t feel too sorry for themselves!
Note: Burgermeister is open from lunch till late for all-day craving satisfaction. So bad but so good.
