You can spot Distrikt Coffee from down the road by the large sign announcing that pancakes are served until 3pm every day (4pm at weekends). Such an advertisement naturally tends to draw a crowd at weekends, so be savvy with your arrival time.
The interior is understatedly beautiful. Pale bare bricks, impressive interior architecture features, chandeliers fashioned from copper pipes, and comfy leather sofas make this one helluva photogenic spot. The futuristic-looking Spirit espresso machine sits centre stage on the bar, flanked by an array of amazing cakes.
My Saturday reached dizzying heights of perfection with the arrival of a strong filter coffee (AeroPress and pour over are available during the week, and a batch brew during the busier weekend service) and a sizeable portion of Bread Pudding – a custard, croissant and chocolate chip creation that is not to be missed! Carrot cake, hot chocolate, Companion Tea and pancakes also rendered my table companions silent as they indulged.
Service from our Australian waitress was friendly and speedy despite the packed venue and queue at the door, so Distrikt gets full marks from me.
