You can’t help but fall in love with a place when the cocktails have names like Does A Bear Sh*t In The Woods (expertly crafted and served in a coupe glass with some salmon and samphire on the side!), and the beef carpaccio is so mind-blowingly good. That’s The Shrub & Shutter for you, Brixton’s newest drink and bar snack spot.
Shrub & Shutter is Brixton’s newest drinking and dining destination, listing ingenious and interactive cocktails that are so expertly crafted that they stay the right side of gimmicky (despite accompanying trinkets such as Polaroid photos, toy soldiers and venison nibbles).
I don’t want to spoil all the surprises, but take a look at this lot!:
There’s also a well-priced menu of wonderfully executed food options created by head chef Joe Knowlden. Joe has previously served in the high-end kitchen of Jason Atherton‘s Pollen Street Social and has transferred the quality and innovative presentation methods from Mayfair to Brixton – while thankfully leaving behind the hefty Pollen Street price tags!
Here, the ever-changing selection of contemporary bar snacks tops out at £10, or there’s a three course deal for a very attractive £22.
