Saint Espresso is a glowing beacon on an otherwise fairly desolate street. Small but perfectly formed, there’s only seating space for about 10 people, so competition is fierce!
The choice of name has inspired a commitment to serving heavenly coffee, and Saint endeavours to achieve this with a team of professionals with years of experience in the speciality coffee industry, combined with top class equipment (including a customised Strada espresso machine) and regularly changing beans from a variety of roasters. Saint orders its coffee in small batches to keep its offering dynamic and fresh – so you’ll never get bored.
The tea menu is equally impressive and, for those on a health kick, they serve matcha too – so disconcertingly green…
Looks-wise, the full height glass frontage opens up the bare brick space, which is lit by a dramatic chandelier and dominated by a bar piled high with baked goods (delivered daily from a number of local artisan bakers).
Tip: Sea salt caramel brownies. Need I say more?! They are insanely good.
One wall is covered with winding plumbing pipes; the wall opposite with tall shelves stocked with merchandise – everything from beautiful copper brewing equipment to tins of tea and bottles of Sandows cold brew.
The kind of café you could visit solo to while away weekends, meet friends for a gossip, or drop in just for takeout. Saint Espresso may just be coffee heaven in Angel…!
