The worst thing about The Association? That it’s only open Monday to Friday. The square mile location isn’t open at the weekend, and just isn’t convenient for me during the week 🙁 so I am only able to enjoy the fab coffee, ambience and chevron-painted furniture on the rare occasion I’m in the city between 7:30am and 5pm.
Surprisingly spacious for such a central location, you’ll find The Association down a little lane off Leadenhall Street, just a few doors down from the Gherkin.
There’s a cake and pastry offering (from Little Bread Pedlar), rotating guest coffees (from Square Mile and Workshop when I visited, but Has Bean pops up regularly too) and an interior that is so unique and hip that it hurts.
Exposed brick, floor to ceiling windows, long tables painted with graphic patterns and lit with high design brass lamps, and industrial chairs and stools built from battered metal and wood.
Sitting at one of the chevron’ed tables with my laptop, the creative juices flowed and a solid hour of caffeine-fuelled productive work flew by in this most stylish of spaces, leaving me to figure out ways to wangle an afternoon away from my Soho office just so I can return to The Association asap…
