Set up by a half British / half Brooklyn duo, Brooklyn Coffee is one of the slickest, most striking coffee shops I’ve been in in a long while.
The phrase ‘coffee shop’ is possibly too generous for this place – it’s probably more accurately described as a coffee bar, with just six seats, so be prepared for takeout.
Every surface is concrete and right-angled to perfection, producing an aesthetic that is simple yet so impressive.
I adore the branding of Brooklyn Coffee – so strong is it, that I felt like I was gaining style points just by being there.
The coffee beans are by Caravan (a force to be reckoned with in London right now); also for sale are beautifully packaged artisan chocolate bars by Mast Brothers, chic branded tote bags and a small selection of baked goods contained within a glass cube on the counter.
I drank a soy latte (they also have almond milk – very New York!), but the iced coffees are also highly regarded here.
It was so refreshing to sit in this unfussy and minimalistic haven as we watched Commercial Street go by at a pace outside the window. I absolutely loved it.
