Kin Café: Bright & breezy coffee & cake shop in Fitzrovia

As a tireless neophile, I’m always on the hunt for new places to go – so when Kin Café popped up on the London’s Best Coffee app recently, I hot-footed it up to Foley Street to have a gander.
A stone’s throw from Attendant (the coffee bar in an ex-Victorian toilet), Kin’s awning and outdoor seating catches the eye – and once they’ve got you close enough, they wow you with their cake offering, spread along the bar. And after that you’re sold!
My four favourite things about Kin:
1. Aside from soy milk, they offer almond milk – my absolute fave, and something you never find outside of New York! I was excited 🙂
Your caffeine fix will be served by a team hailing from big name coffee houses such as Espresso Room, Taylor Street Baristas, Rapha and Look Mum No Hands, using beans from frequently-changing roasters, such as Notes and Round Hill.
2. The cake! Oh my gosh, Kin have got cake down pat. The mandarin & dark chocolate loaf? The most moist and more-ish slice I’ve ever experienced. And the rocky road (the obvious breakfast choice – duh)? So rich and decadent. They even stock Glazed & Confused doughnuts. Wowzer.
Those in search of savoury will love the superfood salads and quiches too – the polenta, brie & beetroot bake got a massive thumbs up from Maxine and I, and Kin ensure that there’s always a vegan option on offer.
The breakfast jars, brownies and pastries look amazing too.
3. The interior – so bright and breezy, Kin really is a haven from the hustle of central London, with a living wall, striking angular lights, Subway-tiled bar and clean-lined Scandi-style furniture – or there’s the option to sit outside in the sun. Right up my street.
4. The staff – they were so friendly. We were chatting about almond milk, the drizzly weather, muddy assault courses and all sorts of exciting things!
I like this place. You will too.
