The Juice Well: Smoothies & cold pressed juices in Soho

The Juice Well invites you to “harness the power of Mother Nature, flood yourself with nutrients, and feel amazing”.  This sounded like a pretty good deal to me, so I headed down to southern Soho to check out the cold pressed juice and smoothie bar.

These guys are full of inspirational quotes – “it’s good practice to eat a rainbow every day” is a favourite saying at The Juice Well, and refers to the benefits of the pigments of fruits and veg.  Greens are good for cleansing and anti-ageing, purple for liver function, orange for energising, yellow for digestion, etc.

Instore, you can grab a bottle of cold pressed goodness from the fridge (each bottle contains over 1 kilo of raw veg and fruit and is equivalent to 8 of your 5 a day!), or get a smoothie whizzed up while you wait – the full menu is here.

Cold pressing is a bit of a trend at the mo, and involves slowly crushing the plant cells to release the raw natural nutrients without destroying or altering them.  Your body processes them effectively – even more so than if you were to eat the original kilo of fruit and veg, because our bodies aren’t as effective at extracting the goodness as a cold press juicer is.
It’s a hit of nutrition that can kill hunger, give you an energy pick up that you don’t crash down from, and starts a repair process that leaves you calm and healthy with glowing skin and clear eyes.  It’s pure, turbo-charged plant nutrition, which your body immediately understands and easily absorbs.

Unsure what to get?  The guys at The Juice Well will prescribe the right juice if you just ask.  I’ve tried the Hunger Buster (hmm wasn’t sure about this one – it contains charcoal which is great for cleansing and detoxing, but I wasn’t a fan of the flavour…) and The Brazilian smoothie (this was amazing – my favourite smoothie in Soho so far, and I’ve tried a fair few!).

There are also dairy and lactose-free nut milks (a bottle of cashew milk coffee is a winner), cleansing tonics and intense shots (one gives you a natural high, or there’s another that’s great for hangovers!), and snacks.
Beware the lemon, ginger & cayenne shot – that tiny bottle is SO spicy!
