Damson & Co: Fab lunchtime pitstop with good food & low prices

Yesterday, finding myself starving in Soho, I stumbled upon Damson & Co on Brewer Street. A tiny place, with a well-styled interior and a deli display that made my mouth water, I was sold.
Grabbing a seat by the window, I found that the menu is just perfect for lunch. I’d just done a Psycle workout, so I decided to allow myself a little indulgence.
The salads displayed on the bar change regularly. A sweet potato & beetroot mix, and a steamed broccoli & green bean combination had caught my eye, so I ordered a salad bowl with half and half of each. To really refuel after my workout, however, I decided mac ‘n’ cheese was the order of the day. There were two types on offer: a vegetarian version with spinach, courgette and peppers, or an alternative with smoked salmon and haddock. I went for the veggie option.
Food came quickly, and was really excellent. The macaroni was the perfect size and was just £4 – wonderfully cheesy without being stodgy or oily, and well balanced by the vegetable additions.
The salad bowl was also £4, and had been generously filled. The green salad was flavourful and crunchy, and the beetroot and sweet potato had been roasted till they were soft and sweet.
£9 (including service) for a filling and wholesome meal was bang on the money, and I highly recommend Damson & Co if you fancy a quick bite in central.
There’s also a wine selection and proper coffee, plus a decent breakfast and evening menu, so Damson really does tick all the boxes.
