Insta-June: Instagramming my way through the month

June flew by in a flurry of Instagram photos – 103 photos to be exact.
It has come to my attention that, if u didn’t know me and u looked at my Instagram feed, you’d probably expect me to be the size of a house based on the amount of food pics I post! Instead, I hope you see this as a good sign – it’s evidence that I’m trying and testing all these places before recommending them to you!  That, and I have a broad frame of references across which to make comparisons – like which is the best juice bar in London, or where is best for a caffeine fix, or which is the best new hotspot to check out..!?
For those who don’t already…
Follow me @ninafitton – I’m addicted to Instagram, so you’ll get real-time updates and tip-offs before they appear on the blog.

This month I’ve become a bit of a coffee buff, and have fast been filling up loyalty cards at these caffeinated hotspots:

{1} Newly opened Workshop coffeebar, right next door to Psycle.
{2} Wild & Wood near Holborn station is tiny and cute, with the best pistachio crodoughs!
{3} TAP Coffee on Wardour Street serves hipster-cool jam jar lattes that are perfect for summer.
{4} TAP also sells the beverage of the moment, cold brew coffee.
{5} Soho Grind is the sister of Shoreditch Grind, and serves a mean salad to a rock ’n’ roll soundtrack, along with the obligatory coffees.  There’ll soon be a speakeasy opening in the basement too.
{6} Curators Coffee Gallery is a new find, just north of Oxford Circus – the interior is gorgeous, the cakes and salads are great, and the cascara iced caffeine drink is so tasty.

June was also a month of new discoveries:

{1} Fischer’s is a Viennese brasserie that just opened in Marylebone – I had amazing bircher muesli for breakfast.
{2} When Mac Met Cheese was a pop-up in Bayswater, serving specials like this fish finger mac ‘n’ cheese!  Now sadly closed, but keep an eye on Twitter @MacMetCheese for the next incarnation.
{3} Pizza Metro Pizza serves “the longest pizza in London” in Clapham – I dined with my oldest friends.
{4} Foxlow in Clerkenwell is a new obsession of mine – the interior, the meaty main courses, the Elvis dessert, the pickle cocktails – blew my mind.

Some old favourites were revisited in June too:

{1} It was great to go back to Bunga Bunga for their June Negroni Festival.  The Spritz Festival is coming up in July.
{2} I still love Wishbone in Brixton Village Market – I feasted with some non-London friends who were impressed.
{3} Miranda, Maxine and I went running with the Nike+ Run Club from Niketown, Oxford Circus – free and sociable, with a warm-up and pacer.  The Nike Training Club classes are also free and great fun (women only).
{4} Pitt Cue Co is a winner when it comes to barbecue – visit at lunch to avoid the evening queues.

I got a bit juice-obsessed this month – perhaps it was the impending bikini season!?

{1} Roots & Bulbs in Marylebone is great for cold-pressed juices and hearty smoothies.
{2} The Juice Well in Soho makes energising smoothies with lots of natural proteins.
{3} Juice Tonic makes smoothies with potent natural supplements, coffee and all things organic – great for fitness buffs.
{4} I’m still obsessed with the workouts at Barry’s Bootcamp, and always round off a session with a protein shake from their Fuel Bar – the Yogiberry is my fave.

Things got a bit luxurious this month:

{1} Oysters and sancerre for a bloggers dinner at Boulestin – perfect service, gorgeous interior, great company.
{2} Chris and I overindulged at Novikov in Mayfair, eating and drinking our way through an incredibly expensive but totally decadent meal!
{3} Afternoon tea at sketch was pretty in pink in David Shrigley’s newly-opened Gallery – one for the girls.
{4} The Ruinart Rosé reception at The Goring Hotel was dreamy – sadly the pop-up closes today.

I finished off June at Glastonbury festival:

{1} Home sweet home for the weekend, in the Tipi Field.
{2} The crew, dressed in their everyday attire…
{3} It rained a lot, ergo there was a lot of mud and we lived in wellies.
{4} I managed to capture this perfect moment as the sun set.
