Brody House: High design Budapest guest house

I have just returned from Budapest and a blissful four days calling Brody House my home. An inspiring place to sleep, blog and chill, it is hands down my favourite hotel in Europe.
Ideally located, Brody House was every interior designer’s dream. Budapest has lots of palaces, built and used by professionals in the 1800s; Brody House was built in 1896 by a gynaecologist who used it as his residence, office and practice in the heart of what was the glamorous and exclusive ‘Palace Quarter’, and the architecture is just fabulous.
The building survived the ravages of history, despite the Second World War, the Hungarian uprising of 1956 (which started just a few doors down the street) and 50 years of neglect and poor maintenance during Communism. The Brody House team are gradually working to restore it to its full former glory, and I was bowled over by every detail.
Arranged around a shady courtyard, each room is unique and individually designed, and named after a Brody House artist whose works can be seen around the house. We were in the Bullet room, named after Bullet Shih, a Hungarian artist whose works covered the walls of our suite. It was the best 99€/night I’ve ever spent!
Brody House is also a members club, and the top floor lounge is wonderful. This is where breakfast is served, and there’s also an honesty bar, comfy chairs, stunning décor and trendy music playing 24/7. Breakfast is a choice of continental buffet or keenly priced á la carte items (pancakes, Eggs Benedict, fry up, etc), which we ate by the window, as sun streamed onto the table.
It was a great spot for blogging too!
