It seems ridiculous to me that Corner Room has only just started serving brunch. The upstairs dining room within Bethnal Green’s Town Hall Hotel is interior perfection, best enjoyed during daylight – high ceilings, huge warehouse windows, lots of wood, and those Insta-famous reclaimed pendant lamps.
I’ve always believed Corner Room to be one of the very few restaurants to nail “affordable luxury” – the concept seems to be somewhat of a holy grail in London, but here, the reasonable prices printed in the menu don’t quite prepare you for the treat that’s in store. With dishes like Crab Benedict, or peaches & ricotta on sourdough (dreamt up by chef Craig Johnson, formerly of Elliots, Pavillion and Newington Table) priced around the £8 mark, you can totally justify doing a brunch tapas kinda thing, and ordering a number of plates to share – plus brunch cocktails, of course.
Oh and did I mention that the Corner Room coffee is fantastic too?
