som saa earned its stripes with a pop-up in a dingy Hackney railway arch a couple of years back, and – after proving they could draw a relentless crowd, night after night – they did the crowdfunding thing, and now have a permanent spot in a former fabric warehouse, just down the road from Spitalfields Market.
This is Thai food like you haven’t tasted before. It’s a sharing plates place, with blow-your-head-off spicy papaya salads, deep-fried sea bass (literally: the fish has been caught and dropped, whole, into the deep fat fryer), and original incredible curries. Wash it all down with cocktails that have enough kick to stand up to the spicy food.
You can book for tables of 4+ (and I suggest you do, as this place is permanently buzzing), or you can hang out in the bar and sink a few Dragon’s Milk cocktails till it’s time for your Thai fix.
