There are plenty of awesome Airbnb apartments for rent in San Francisco, but if you prefer the no-stress service of a hotel, then here’s a boutique suggestion for you: The Buchanan hotel in Japantown.
Away from all the tourists and with a healthy dose of fun Japanese design, The Buchanan is a good choice for around $300 a night. TVs mounted on artist’s easels, dressing gowns styled like kimonos, mosaic-floored bathrooms, graphic artworks, blissfully comfortable beds and blackout curtains… Oh and a lobby chandelier composed of over 3000 Japanese whisky bottles.
There’s no restaurant or room service, but Japantown is literally across the street if you fancy late-night ramen or sushi, or a short Uber ride will have you in the Mission or SoMa for further options. The hotel does, however, have a Hot Chocolate Hour in the early evening if you fancy it!
