Mr Bao’s buns are thrice-proven for fluffiness (and, unusually, contain both dairy and gluten, FYI), and stuffed to bursting with flavoursome morsels such as pork belly with a peanut dusting, slow-cooked lamb, or Portobello mushroom.
The bao menu sits alongside a myriad of well executed small plates courtesy of the ex-Taiwanese military chef. Stand out dishes include smacked cucumber, golden kimchee, British steak (so delicious) and perfectly fried chicken. Dessert holds its own too, with mocchi and a mind-blowing S’Mores Bao stealing the show. Wash it all down with beer, sake, sweet plum shochu or cocktails.
