A slew of Peruvian restaurants have opened in London over the past few years, but Andina (from the creators of Ceviche, Soho) has taken a different tack, creating a modern ‘picanteria’ at the top of Redchurch Street in Shoreditch, serving a healthy menu based on superfoods from the Peruvian Andes.
Founder Martin Morales grew up in Lima, and remembers the dishes he enjoyed made from superfoods like quinoa, amaranth, purple maize, maca, chia… This is what he has transplanted into Shoreditch, with a little help from the best British produce.
Visit Andina today, and you can expect light and healthy dishes that explode with zingy flavour and are a marvel to look at – always colourful works of art on the plate that just beg to be photographed, and are incredibly good for you to boot!
With its unusual bright and breezy interior, request a table on the ground floor at Andina, best enjoyed in daylight, and all the better for properly appreciating the artistic creations that appear from the kitchen too! (There’s also a bar, more tables and a private dining room downstairs.)
Breakfast at Andina is fantastic too – items on the Replenish Menu have been developed by personal trainer Harry Jameson, for all your pre- and post-workout needs. I’m still dreaming of the granola with luçuma yoghurt and golden berry coulis (£5), which was simply mind-blowing.
Expect to spend around £40 per head on food.
