When dreaming up date spots, I doubt your mind jumps immediately to a former public toilet – but in this case, it really should! WC (or Wine & Charcuterie) is a subterranean bar, accessed via a stairwell just behind Clapham Common tube. 100 years ago, it really was a public loo!
Apart from the fact that our waitress was absolutely barmy, Chris and I had an awesome evening, sinking a bottle of South African red along with some giant Sicilian olives, in the warm and dimly lit space.
There are both nibbles and sharing boards on the menu – lots of cheese and charcuterie, as you’d expect. A long wine list, a handful of beers and some cocktails (well-priced at £9), and you’re set for the evening.
