LIMA Floral is the youthful sister of the original LIMA restaurant in Fitzrovia – unpretentious, stylish and modern with a sense of South American fun. It should be noted that the first LIMA restaurant from chef Virgilio Martinez (who’s a really big deal in the chef world in Peru) opened during that wave of nouveau Peruvian popularity that swept London a few years back; LIMA was considered the best of the bunch, picking up a Michelin star in 2013. Peruvian is no longer a novelty in London, with Ceviche, Andina, Señor Ceviche and more all churning out zingy, colourful dishes – so I was keen to see how LIMA Floral measured up.
The interior is striking, with colourful murals on the walls, sleek furniture and pops of Inca blue around the space. There’s the restaurant, and then there’s a Pisco Bar downstairs, serving drinks and finger food.
Dishes are playful and imaginative, and always a riot of colour and stunningly presentated. You’ll find plenty of seafood ceviche, grilled fish and meat mains, and even a dessert of blue potato with coffee ice cream!?
