I may well have found the best value tasting menu in all of London. The Dairy is no secret among Clapham locals – it’s right by the Common, on the amusingly named (well, in my opinion) The Pavement, and from the outside doesn’t necessarily look like much.
So back to the tasting menu. £45 for ten courses. Ten courses of exceptional flavours, incredible textures and stunning presentation – a few rounds of nibbles, some more substantial starter-size plates, a hearty main and a couple of desserts, served on stone plates, beautiful crockery and concrete bowls.
Courses of duck hearts with polenta, Sweet Promise mackerel with fermented sorrel, and game sausage with celeriac and hazelnut led us through to the main: a choice of pigeon or beef rump, both incredible.
Pair with a delicious bottle of Montepulciano, or something from the cocktail menu (Dill or Die was a favourite, and I couldn’t fault the Plum Fashioned) and seamless service, it was an impeccable meal.
