In a former sports pavilion on Clapham Common, right next to the skatepark, you’ll find Fields. Having honed the art of coffee and brunch at their original restaurant MILK in Balham, the team is bringing the same novel ingredients, quirky combinations and sense of humour to this alfresco spot – and my, are they doing a great job.
Coffee is from Workshop and comes with whole milk only, in either 2.5, 6.0 or 7.5 oz measures – no skinny macchiatos here, you’ll get it as it comes!
The menu changes weekly, but new specials are posted regularly on their Instagram page – think coal grilled steak sandwich with miso mayo, super indulgent Croque Madam and waffles with crispy fried chicken skin and mustard maple syrup. There’s always soft serve on the menu too, with flavours changing weekly – or even daily.
Even the more conventional menu stalwarts are somewhat souped up – sprouted grain granola is so great it practically has a cult following, and Eggs Benedict is taken to a whole new level with espresso-infused Hollandaise.
