Bill Granger has done it again. His third Granger & Co restaurant in London is another winning combination of impeccable décor and fresh Aussie cuisine, this time in King’s Cross, on the super trendy revamped Pancras Square.
The menu reads like an Australian daydream – starters of figs & labneh and whipped avocado/tofu/wasabi dip whet the appetite, and mains of chilli belly pork, spicy fish curry and a shrimp burger are substantial and served with crisp fresh salads on summery blue and white plates. Spritz cocktails are on the pricey side but will really complete the sunshine state of mind (think elderflower, ginseng and rhubarb flavours), so I reckon it’s £11 well spent…!
Granger’s interior design is quite something, strongly channeling the sunny, easygoing and ‘Australian’ vibe. Daytime is potentially the best time to visit to see it in all its glory – the bright paintings, pink marble tables, blooming marvellous bouquets, soft tan leather and brassy accents make it a sight for sore eyes, for sure.
And since the Aussies love a good brunch (I’m massively stereotyping here!) you’re in for a treat on the food front during the day too. Sweet or savoury, washed down with a Clamato bloody Mary or avocado coffee frappé, Granger & Co has totally nailed it.
