The three talented men behind Les Trois Garcons restaurant and Loungelover bar are on a roll, creating three absolutely fabulous destinations within metres of each other in the trendiest area in Shoreditch. Just this morning, I had the pleasure of visiting the newest addition to this trendy trinity: Maison Trois Garcons.
Maison Trois Garcons, on the corner of Redchurch Street and Chance Street, is a lifestyle café serving a seasonal menu that’s fabulous at any of time of day, plus deli specials, pastries, cakes and teas. ‘What’s a lifestyle café?’ I hear you ask. Since the team have already create a restaurant and a bar, and collaborated with an antiques and interiors shop in Notting Hill, Maison Trois Garcons marries these three passions to create a retail destination that offers something for everyone.
Surrounding the dining and bar areas, you’ll find an eclectic assortment of fashion accessories, antique and vintage furniture and lighting pieces, and gift items, sourced from all over the globe and all for sale.
Walls are covered with all manner of attention-grabbers, from neon signs to framed collections of butterflies – and even the ceiling is adorned, with fantastic lights in the form of party balloons.
We arrived just before 3pm, and sat on vintage dining chairs around a Portuguese tile topped table (also available for purchase). They stop serving brunch at 3pm, so we hurriedly put in an order for Eggs Royale and avocado on toast, plus a couple of iced coffees. The waiters and waitresses were all as beautifully stylish as the interior, and service was attentive without being invasive.
Brunch arrived on mismatched vintage plates, and was absolutely delicious. The simple concept of avocado on toast was taken to the next level with the addition of rocket, mixed seeds, and a rasher of smoky bacon – a dish I definitely plan to recreate at home.
We wandered through the café on our way out, checking out all the things on sale. I was sorely tempted by the tins of tea (for sale at about £8) – so beautifully packaged they’d make lovely gifts. The cakes and pastries also looked delicious. A quick perusal of the lunch menu highlighted more yummy dishes, from meatballs & mash to lasagne – so this is a venue that really does cater to dining at any time of day.
