With a quirky, local vibe, and a little shabby around the edges, the Genesis Cinema is cheaper, independent and more hipster than other cinema choices in London. Opened in 1848 as a music hall, the site has been used solely for entertainment purposes ever since.
If you do head over to catch a film, be sure to make it a Monday or Wednesday, when adult tickets are just £3.50! Though with prices on all other days at £7, you can probably afford to be more flexible… Some screens still feature original architecture, while others have two-man sofa seating options, so you can cosy up like you’re in your living room.
Be sure to arrive early enough to partake in the excellent coffee and crodoughs from the renowned Rinkoff Bakery (a crodough is what would happen if a croissant and doughnut were to breed, and it’s really quite amazing), or a drink in the grungy upstairs bar.
